PAWCATUCK, CT. – Davis-Standard is proud to announce that John Christiano, Chief Technologist – Extrusion, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Service Award by the Extrusion Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made significant, lasting contributions to the development and advancement of the global extrusion industry. John was present to receive the award on March 11 in Pittsburgh, PA, during the SPE annual meeting.

John Christiano is widely regarded as one of the foremost technology experts in the global extrusion field. His career, which spans more than three decades of dedicated research, is marked by a relentless pursuit of technical excellence:
• Patented Advancements: Christiano holds numerous patents across critical processing areas, including feedscrew design, die design, diagnostic control systems, and forming equipment for polymer processing.
• Industry Leadership: A proud member of the SPE since 1986, he is a frequent contributor to the scientific community, regularly presenting research at ANTEC, RETEC, and TAPPI conferences.
• Academic Foundation: He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as a master’s degree in management science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
